Conservatory of Flowers | San Francisco, CA

The Conservatory of Flowers which originally opened in 1879, is the oldest building in Golden Gate Park. It houses some 1,700 species of aquatic and tropical plants, a world-renowned collection of orchids, giant water lilies, and carnivorous plants. The 25 million dollars renovation project , included a temporary microclimate house for its rare 100 years old philodendron, new underfloor heating systems, natural ventilation, high pressure misting systems and an integrated weather driven DDC control system optimizing the plants environment. MDS provided full HVAC and Plumbing engineering services. The beloved San Francisco landmark reopened in 2003.
