Old St. Mary's Cathedral | San Francisco, CAOld. St. Mary's Cathedral, the California's first cathedral, was built in 1854 and it is City of San Francisco Landmark No.2. One of the oldest brick buildings in San Francisco, it survived two earthquakes and a fire. The historical preservation project included master planning, seismic, ADA, life safety upgrades and other architectural and interior liturgical improvements. For the bell tower, the entire four levels of the tower were structurally strengthened and a new HVAC system installed. Collaborating with the rehabilitation design and construction teams MDS provided full mechanical and plumbing engineering services for the upgrades. |
