Marin County Hall of Justice | San Rafael, CA

The renowned historic structure, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright underwent a major seismic retrofit. MDS provided complete mechanical design and coordinated the electrical engineering services to address the structural work for this 24 million dollars retrofit project. Multiple constraints presented design and construction challenges. All MEP systems have been phased for non-interrupted building services. The MEP elements were integrated with the state of the art structural systems used to accomplish the seismic strengthening especially in the main mechanical and electrical space. The two year project, constructed mostly at night and weekends was completed in 2003.
